Background:
Belcoo Parent and Toddler Group benefit all children under statutory school age and their parents/carers by providing an educational facility on Thursdays each week from 10am – 11.30am in the Lakeland Community Care Healthy Living Centre, 1 Lattone Raod, Belcoo. Belcoo Parent and Toddler Group has a voluntary committee who give their time and skills to make the group a success.
Members come from Belcoo and the West Fermanagh area. Belcoo Parent and Toddler Group is open to all parents/carers and children and is a friendly informal parent and toddler group where parents/carers can meet others in a safe environment, make friends and play with their children.
Activities:
There are a variety of toys and activities for babies and toddlers to enjoy, including play dough, paints, crafts and rhyme. The children gain social skills and learn to socialise with other children in group activities while having their parent/carer nearby.
The children gain a significant range of benefits at the group including the following:
a safe indoor play environment for pre-school children where they have a range of fun equipment.
It is an opportunity for children to gain educational experiences whilst using play activities recommended by Early Years teachers and is supported by their parents/carers.
Children take part in physical exercises by using song and dance, push alongs and sensory play including any activity that stimulates your young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing.
Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore.
A healthy snack of toast, bread, fruit and yogurt is provided to the children and their parents/carers.
Parents/carers can meet other parents/carers and gain support from each other.
Belcoo Parent and Toddler group committee arrange workshops and talks for parents.
The group is made up of a voluntary committee who lay out the playroom each week and provide the snacks.
